Senior GL Accountant (Quality Team)

  • Category: Finance
  • Location: Kaunas, LT

Deliver robust finance outcomes through diligent stewardship

At NKT in Kaunas, we are looking for a Senior GL Accountant to improve the quality, consistency, and governance of our processes. This role sits within the Quality Team and has a cross-team impact, focusing on accounting quality, compliance, standardization, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Rather than owning a single portfolio, you will act as a quality anchor and subject-matter specialist, supporting accounting teams, safeguarding accounting standards, and ensuring reliable financial reporting in a global environment.

Coordinate initiatives across finance operations

As a Senior GL Accountant, you will support the Quality Manager in implementing quality assurance policies within accounting and finance operations, conducting quality reviews and audits of accounting processes, and coordinating improvement projects. You will be deeply involved in investigating customer complaints related to accounting services and collaborating with cross-functional finance teams to resolve issues and improve service delivery.

Your responsibility will be to:

  • Act as a quality coordinator for the accounting function, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP/IFRS, local statutory requirements, and internal controls across teams.
  • Identify quality gaps, recurring issues, and root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Provide quality oversight during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Support statutory reporting, audits, and compliance-related processes, acting as a key contact for quality-related audit topics.
  • Ensure audit findings are addressed in a structured and sustainable way.
  • Maintain SOPs, guidelines, and quality documentation, ensuring they are current, clear, and consistently applied.
  • Standardize, simplify, and automate initiatives with a robust quality perspective.
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving accounting quality, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
  • Support implementation of changes in systems, processes, or accounting rules from a quality standpoint.
  • Act as a go-to person for accounting quality topics, providing guidance and support accounting teams members.
  • Collaborate closely with GL Teams, Local Finance, Group Finance, Tax, and external auditors.

Finance-focused professional with a solutions-oriented mindset

You are an engaged and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. Your effective communication skills and customer-focused mindset help you build trust and facilitate improvements across departments.

You also have:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting in a Shared Services or international environment.
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge and solid understanding of end-to-end accounting processes.
  • Audit experience and a thorough commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP or similar).
  • High attention to detail, structured working style, and ability to see the big picture.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills; able to advise and guide others professionally.
  • Fluency in English.
